Winter Fun: How to Build an Indoor Playground in Your Daycare.
Building an indoor playground is a great way for kids to have fun and get some exercise during the cold winter months. When it’s uncomfortable to go outside and use the playground swings, an indoor play space is a perfect way to transform a daycare into an adventure land for kids. On a cold and snowy day, kids will have a blast romping around indoor daycare equipment and releasing some of the pent-up energy that builds with too much time inside.
Indoor playgrounds give kids a place to have fun and get the much needed exercise they sometimes miss out on due to bad weather. With a few fun pieces of daycare equipment, it’s easy to transform a relatively small space into a safe place for indoor play where kids can still jump, slide, crawl through tunnels and burn off some steam.
There are a number of things to consider when making an indoor playground. But don’t let your daycare become a prison; there are plenty of ways you can make a day inside fun for you and the kids. Here are some useful tips for fighting winter blues and getting a daycare ready for indoor play.
Color
Snap Walls and Play Panels are an easy way to add color and fun to a day inside. They provide easy ways to build colorful tunnels, fortes and castles, turning a boring space at a daycare into a cheery playground. Building a colorful indoor playground can take a cold day indoors from drab to fab with little effort and add a little sunshine when the weather just isn’t cooperating.
Imagination
Stir up the kid’s imagination and let them explore their creative side. Puppet stages and play stages are a fantastic way for kids to express themselves, release energy, play together and stretch the imagination. Let the kids take over story time by taking their own stage. For more artistic creation, install art wall panels and let the children design their own masterpieces. With little effort and the right daycare equipment, it’s easy to create a platform for creative expression.
Exercise and Activity
Even though space is limited, and there’s probably not room for a swing set inside, it doesn’t mean that you can make room for a little indoor exercise. Floor mats provide a safe space for kids to run and tumble. They can also be used at naptime – making them a wise choice in daycare equipment. Consider indoor slides, teeter-totters and even miniature bowling lanes to increase the children’s activity when they have to stay inside.
With a little color, imagination and a few smart choices in indoor playground equipment, it’s easy to turn your daycare into a playground where you the kids are happy to spend a day inside.
